Our Score
Although it begins unpromisingly with plodding, TV movie-style exposition, this sequel picks up speed when two boys, one played by Terminator 2 star Edward Furlong, discover the Indian burial ground that brings the dead back to life. The resurrected dog is a spine-chilling creature; later, wicked stepfather Clancy Brown returns from the grave to make love to his widow. The grossness culminates in carnage that almost rivals that of the original film, while a living corpse's shriek of "Dead is better!" could become a catchphrase. The tone throughout is much more tongue-in-cheek than before.

A boy's dog is killed by his abusive father, so he and his friend bury the animal in a place believed to hold the power of resurrection. Miraculously, the dog returns to the land of the living, but with a vicious new temperament, and savages the boy's father to death. The terrified son decides to try in turn to resurrect his parent, but with horrific consequences. Horror sequel, with Edward Furlong and Anthony Edwards.
