Saddle the Wind

Saddle the Wind

Robert Parrish (1958)

Our Score
Robert Taylor (Hollywood professional) and John Cassavetes (New York king of improvisation) star here as, respectively, a rancher and his no-good younger brother who are heading for the last showdown. The clash of acting styles makes for some decently intriguing drama that's directed with flair by Robert Parrish. But this is a film with added rarity value because it's the only western to have been written by The Twilight Zone's Rod Serling, early television's greatest fantasist.

A reformed gunslinger is given a plot of land on the condition he curbs the wild behaviour of his younger brother - whose rivalry and uncontrolled bloodlust threaten to destroy any hope he has of leading a peaceful life as a rancher. Western, starring Robert Taylor, John Cassavetes, Julie London and Donald Crisp.
