Our Score
Compared to director John Gilling's other two 1952 features, Mother Riley Meets the Vampire and The Voice of Merrill, this could be a crowd-pleasing gem. In reality, it's a dreary little quota quickie which draws on all the stock situations one associates with British B-thrillers. Gilling makes solid use of the down-at-heel locations, but he fails to inject any suspense into the story (which he wrote) of a botched jewel robbery. Given little support by the rest of the cast, Dermot Walsh tries hard as the junk dealer's son who's thrown out of university and drawn into a life of crime.

Summary
