Our Score
There are more clichés than corpses in this predictable and rather anaemic psychological horror about strange and deadly happenings in a mental health facility. Consequently, you may have guessed the ultimate big twist early on, as Joshua Leonard's eager young psychiatric intern arrives at the decrepit institute and soon starts seeing ghosts. The mystery deepens via a couple of gory, quick killings and the usual OTT patient behaviour, but weak scripting and acting alongside lazy direction, mean events are never genuinely tense or scary. Of the cast, Leonard's nurse love interest Jordan Ladd is particularly unconvincing - especially in an absurdly unnecessary sex scene - while a shamefully wasted Lance Henriksen and Natasha Lyonne deliver their customary oddball shtick, playing the hospital boss and an inmate, respectively.

A trainee psychiatrist is sent to work at a creepy asylum housing dangerous and violent criminals - but when one of his colleagues is murdered, it becomes clear that the patients aren't the only ones with serious problems. William Butler's horror, starring Joshua Leonard, Jordan Ladd, Natasha Lyonne and Lance Henriksen.
