Our Score
An intriguing if only partially successful attempt by British director Tony Garnett to redress the balance in favour of the female victim of "male violence{". Karen Young is excellent as the passive young woman whose experiences at the hands of Texan brute Clayton Day (another finely etched performance) turn her into a marauding vigilante. On the plus side, there are a great sense of menace and tension, good supporting performances and an intelligent, sensitive handling of tricky issues. The minus is Garnett's overall thesis that the way to handle violence is to strike back. However, this is still a minor classic.

A high-school teacher plans a violent revenge on the man who raped her at gunpoint. Thriller, starring Karen Young and Clayton Day.
