Our Score
The makers of the StreetDance movies escape to the sun in this bright and breezy musical comedy. Taylor (Hannah Arterton) returns to the Italian resort where she had a memorable holiday romance to attend her sister's wedding. On arrival, she discovers that her former lover, Raf (Giulio Berruti), is her future brother-in-law. Aiming for the same feel-good camp factor that made Mamma Mia! a hit, the familiar farcical shenanigans are peppered here with 1980s karaoke favourites belted out by a cast (including X-Factor winner Leona Lewis) who bound about picturesque streets with gay abandon. As trashy as it is, there is something charming and infectious about the film's unashamedly cheesy outlook, even if the obvious but effective gags, provided by Katy Brand as the sisters' best friend, merely fill the spaces in-between energetic musical numbers. An acquired taste it may be, but the sunny disposition of this limoncello-soaked frolic ensures its status as a guilty pleasure.
