Our Score
This big-screen spin-off from Gerry Anderson's hugely popular TV series is directed with efficient briskness by series regular David Lane. International Rescue is requested to oversee the launch of Zero X, a manned mission to Mars, but saboteur and arch nemesis the Hood (yes, the bald guy with the glowing eyes) is waiting in the wings. As ever, the effects and model work are superb, but while the TV stories just about held one's interest for a full hour, the novelty ultimately wears thin here at feature length. Still, children and fans of the original show will lap it up. Watch out for a hilariously camp dream sequence featuring performing puppets of Cliff Richard and the Shadows.
