Our Score
A tween hit since its arrival on the Disney Channel in 2006, this is the story of average teenager Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus) who's a schoolgirl by day and by night dons a blonde wig to become pop sensation Hannah Montana. Trouble is, she can't reveal her real identity because she and her dad (Cyrus's real-life father Billy Ray) want her to lead a "normal" life. In this movie spin-off, Miley is forced to return to her home state of Tennessee to take a close look at her priorities. One of the attractions of the TV series is Miley's close relationship with best friend Lilly (Emily Osment). But here, even though Osment gets second billing, she doesn't get nearly enough screen time, while Miley's prat-falling 18-year-old brother Jackson (played by diminutive 32-year-old actor Jason Earles) is also conspicuous by his near-absence. Still, the story of how Cyrus finds some perspective and a first love while warding off the attentions of the British paparazzi is clichéd yet satisfying, and the songs are irritatingly tuneful. However, if you're hoping to catch a glimpse of Dolly Parton (Cyrus's godmother in life and the TV series), she's nowhere to be seen.

Summary

As her pop starlet alter-ego Hannah Montana's fame begins to grow, teenager Miley Stewart gets carried away with the success and is sent to work on the family farm in Tennessee. With help from her faithful friends, she begins to discover who she really is and what is important in life. Family comedy, starring real-life father and daughter Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus, alongside Emily Osment, Jason Earles and Mitchel Musso.
