Our Score
In this oddball romantic comedy from British director Jim Field Smith, the gross-out level is kept to a minimum and the language is reasonably clean, making it a refreshing change from similar testosterone-fuelled movies. Jay Baruchel stars as airport security worker Kirk Kettner, a lanky geek with a good heart who's taken advantage of by his family and his ex-girlfriend. Guided by a motley gaggle of protective friends, Kirk is urged to pursue gorgeous career woman Molly McCleish (Alice Eve) after an incident at the airport. What ensues is more than your average Judd Apatow comedy, even if the film has many recognisable genre hallmarks. It is unbelievable - Molly is definitely out of Kirk's league - but it has a sense of depth and feeling that tempers the slapstick content. Meanwhile, seamless ensemble playing from a solid supporting cast elevates this to the kind of home-town tale in which Jimmy Stewart wouldn't look amiss.

Summary

Distinctly average and unimpressive Kirk cannot believe his luck when he lands a date with the clever and beautiful Molly. The pair embark on a relationship but Kirk's insecurities lead him to question whether they belong together. Romantic comedy, starring Jay Baruchel, Alice Eve, TJ Miller, Mike Vogel, Nate Torrence and Lindsay Sloane.
