Our Score
This disappointing but nonetheless interesting sequel to five-hanky drama Terms of Endearment picks up the story over a decade later. Shirley MacLaine, who won an Oscar in the original, returns as eccentric matriarch Aurora Greenway, now of pensionable age but just as feisty as she struggles to bring up her late daughter Emma's children. Despite a brief cameo from MacLaine's fellow Endearment Oscar winner Jack Nicholson, and strong performances by Juliette Lewis and Miranda Richardson, this never truly sparkles, largely owing to a lacklustre script. But it does manage to touch the heart and, by the end, definitely lives up to the description "weepie".

An eccentric woman feels unable to stand by and watch her three adult grandchildren mess up their lives, but ends up becoming hopelessly entangled in their affairs - while failing to realise she has her own problems to face. Drama sequel to Terms of Endearment, starring Shirley MacLaine, Bill Paxton, Juliette Lewis and Miranda Richardson.
