Review

Our Score
A marvellous comedy idea: during the desert campaign in the Second World War, Peter Ustinov's hotel is utilised at various times by British, German, Italian and French forces. Naturally, proprietor Ustinov manages to accommodate them all, plus a few visiting Arabs as well. Very funny, and played at a fast and furious pace by a wonderful cast, notably Yvonne De Carlo as Ustinov's fiancée, the redoubtable David Tomlinson and splendid character actors Bill Owen, Sidney Tafler, Roland Culver and Eugene Deckers. This movie was so popular that it was regularly re-released, sent out to prop up an ailing feature or two. And it's still thoroughly entertaining today.
