The Flood

The Flood

Frederic Goode (1963)

U Certificate

Our Score
Based on a story by Frank Wells, this is another of those matinée specials so much beloved of the British film industry in the 1950s and 60s. However, this one has more to offer (even to today's pre-teen sophisticates) than many of its ilk, as it follows six children learning how to fend for themselves after their isolated farm is cut off by a freak flood. Dexterously handling his young cast and making effective use of his desolate location, Frederic Goode builds the tension steadily as the waters rise and the kids' spirits begin to sag.

Eight children are trapped in a farmhouse by rising flood waters, but work together to find ways to survive until rescued. Drama, starring Waveney Lee and Ian Ellis.
