Our Score
Based on the bestselling novel by When Harry Met Sally ... scriptwriter Nora Ephron (who also co-wrote and directed Sleepless in Seattle) - an account of her tempestuous marriage to Watergate journalist Carl Bernstein - this comedy drama has Meryl Streep as the cookery writer who marries columnist Jack Nicholson, only to discover that life isn't always happy ever after when he has an affair while she's pregnant. Nicholson gets all the best lines and does well with what is essentially a rather shallow part with few redeeming features, but Streep is somewhat at sea with the humorous side of her role and ends up as a rather unsympathetic character. Slickly directed by Mike Nichols (The Graduate), with music (including the theme song Coming around Again) from Carly Simon.

A cookery writer falls in love with a reporter she meets at a wedding, and gets married. She sacrifices her career to devote herself to family life, but during her second pregnancy, she becomes aware her husband is having an affair. Mike Nichols' comedy drama, starring Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Jeff Daniels, Maureen Stapleton and Stockard Channing, and featuring Kevin Spacey in his movie debut.
