Our Score
Downtrodden workers seek payback from a dodgy Wall Street trader in this topical yet goofy action comedy. Ben Stiller is typically uptight as the manager of a luxury Manhattan apartment block who turns on penthouse resident Arthur Shaw (Alan Alda) after he cons the staff out of their savings. Eddie Murphy echoes the rogue he played in Trading Places, though he's not quite as charming, as a petty thief that Stiller employs to help take back the millions hidden in Shaw's suite. They're joined by a hangdog Matthew Broderick as an accountant-turned-squatter and Casey Affleck who, surprisingly, steals the show as the dithering concierge. The emphasis on Shaw's crimes steals time away from the actual heist, so the film never feels quite as epic as it should, although Brett Ratner (the Rush Hour series) directs some impressive action in and around the skyscraper. Overall though, it's the mismatch of criminal minds that raises the entertainment value.

Summary

The manager of an apartment complex asks a Wall Street financier to manage pension funds for him and his friends, but the man pockets all the money instead. When he realises the fraudster is going to get away with the crime and the money will never be found, he enlists the help of a professional thief to steal it back. Crime comedy, with Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Alan Alda, Tea Leoni, Casey Affleck and Matthew Broderick.
