Review

Our Score
Robert Burke replaces Peter Weller as the unstoppable cyborg cop in this more comedy driven, and far less violent, futuristic fantasy from director Fred Dekker, which returns the series to the central themes of Verhoeven's original "Christian fairy tale". The mechanised flatfoot this time defends the homeless when an amoral Japanese magnate decides to clean up downtown Detroit in order to build a luxury apartment complex. Complete with "splatterpunk" villains, cyborg samurai and Burke flying to trouble spots using a jet pack, Dekker's fun sequel is well directed and written with a firm eye on the family TV series the concept eventually became.

Summary

A giant Japanese corporation's plan to turn Detroit into an anaesthetised metropolis prompts the gun-toting cyborg hero to help a band of rebels fight against the forces of tyranny. Sci-fi thriller sequel, starring Robert Burke, Nancy Allen, Rip Torn, John Castle and Jill Hennessy.
