Our Score
A pleasant but mindless remake by producer Samuel Goldwyn of his 1930 Ronald Colman romantic adventure, with debonair David Niven lacking the suave charm of Colman's famed gentleman thief incarnation. Olivia de Havilland is lovely, however, and more than makes up for Niven's over-casual approach, a style that saw him through virtually five decades of cinema stardom, including an Academy Award for Separate Tables. What is truly amazing is that this film is particularly strong on English mores and atmosphere, yet not a frame was shot outside Hollywood - all credit to underrated co-director Sam Wood.

Ae suave gentleman jewel thief commits a burglary to save a friend's reputation, but the theft results in romantic complications. Comedy adventure, starring David Niven, Olivia de Havilland, Dudley Digges and Dame May Whitty.
