Undercover Agent

Undercover Agent

Vernon Sewell (1953)

PG Certificate

Our Score
Typical "quota quickie" about a ring of spies who use an innocuous nursing home as their hideout. Some topicality is given to the otherwise threadbare plot - the spies are after plans for jet engines, and there's a chase through one of London's newest tourist attractions, the Festival Gardens on the South Bank. B-movie regular Dermot Walsh gets duped into espionage, Hermoine Baddeley camps it up as a clairvoyant, and monstrous fatty Alexander Gauge - best known as Friar Tuck in the TV series Robin Hood - does a Sidney Greenstreet as the villain.

An auditor acquires secret plans that the British Government - and various shadier characters - are keen to get their hands on. Spy thriller, starring Dermot Walsh and Hazel Court.
