Our Score
Sandra Bullock and Ben Affleck are among the most handsome stars working in Hollywood today and both have proved themselves adept at the romantic comedy genre (she in The Proposal, he in the superb Chasing Amy). However, they fail to find the requisite chemistry in this otherwise pleasant enough movie - Affleck is fine as the strait-laced groom-to-be who has a Planes, Trains and Automobiles-style trip to his wedding, but Bullock is a little miscast as the quirky gal he hooks up with, who may tempt him away from his waiting bride (played with poignant sincerity by Maura Tierney). That said, the supporting cast (including the fabulous Steve Zahn as Affleck's gormless pal) works hard and the film does have occasional moments of charm. It's amusing, but not as good as it could have been.
