Our Score
Chevy Chase reprises his role as the daffy investigative reporter in this adult comedy, but this time he's not blessed with a sharp enough script. Fletch is one of those characters that you either find irresistibly funny and folksy, or merely the celluloid celebration of the nightmare passenger you find yourself sitting beside in a plane. If you tend firmly towards the latter, then this particular journey in the company of Mr Chase could be the equivalent of nonstop to Auckland in economy. The plot, such as it is, doesn't so much revolve around Chase in a variety of ill-fitting disguises, as spin mercilessly out of control.

Wisecracking reporter IM Fletcher inherits a crumbling plantation in Louisiana from his aunt, and spends his first night sleeping there with a lawyer - who winds up dead the next morning. Suspecting murder, he uses a succession of disguises and uncovers a conspiracy surrounding the crooked owner of a Christian theme park and the dumping of toxic waste. Comedy sequel, with Chevy Chase, Hal Holbrook and Julianne Phillips.
