Our Score
Based on Harold Lloyd's 1936 comedy The Milky Way, this is one of Danny Kaye's best vehicles, allowing the versatile comedian to strut his stuff as the milkman who becomes a boxing champ. If you're not a Kaye fan, this may be the movie, along with, perhaps, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, that will make you change your mind, since it's relatively free of the sentimentality that mars so much of Kaye's later work. Producer Samuel Goldwyn surrounds his star with glamour (Virginia Mayo, Vera-Ellen), rich 1940s Technicolor and terrific character support (Fay Bainter, Eve Arden), plus some super songs; the result is very pleasing.

A timid milkman who astounds the world by becoming a legendary prizefighter. Comedy remake of Harold Lloyd's The Milky Way, starring Danny Kaye and Virginia Mayo.
