Our Score
In this ludicrous comedy, Adam Sandler puts on a dodgy accent as "The Zohan", an Israeli super-agent who heads for New York to pursue a career in hairdressing. It's every bit as crass and heavy-handed as you might expect from Sandler and his occasional partner in crime, director Dennis Dugan (I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry). What makes the film doubly grating is the lame attempt to demonstrate its liberal idealism by having Zohan fall for a Palestinian salon owner (Emmanuelle Chriqui). However, while Zohan struggles with these feelings, Salim (Rob Schneider) reinforces every stereotype of the immigrant Arab by driving a cab by day and making bombs by night. John Turturro is vaguely amusing as a terrorist with a fast-food franchise, but Sandler trades mostly in gross-out gags, such as Zohan's love of houmous and his affairs with old ladies.

Israeli Special Agent Zohan Dvir grows tired of his dangerous life and longs for a change of scene. While in the process of capturing an enemy activist, Zohan fakes his own death and moves to New York to begin a new life as a hair stylist. He is forced to use his combat training once more to defend his neighbourhood from a crooked landlord and his thugs. Comedy, starring Adam Sandler, John Turturro and Emmanuelle Chriqui.
