Primitive hunter Zed (Jack Black) and his gatherer sidekick Oh (Michael Cera) are banished from their Garden of Eden paradise and left to fend for themselves in Groundhog Day director Harold Ramis's knockabout comedy. As the hapless pair journey through the ancient world, they encounter numerous Biblical figures (Cain and Abel, Abraham) and unwittingly find themselves at the centre of a royal assassination plot. The lampooning of religion makes Life of Brian comparisons unavoidable - one scene near the end of the film is almost a carbon copy - although the Old Testament references and occasionally puerile quick-fire gags are generally closer to the broader historical spoofs of Mel Brooks. As Black is on autopilot throughout, playing a character not far removed from his perceived public image, it's Cera's deadpan reactions and delivery that get the most laughs, but even they are few and far between.

An inept hunter and his shy gatherer sidekick are kicked out of their tribe and left to wander the Old Testament world. Blundering through several key moments of the Bible, they eventually end up at Sodom, where they must try and rescue their people from slavery. Comedy, starring Jack Black, Michael Cera, Oliver Platt and Hank Azaria.
