Our Score
This whimsical fantasy in the Disney tradition of whiter-than-white family fun is packed with enchanting special effects and merry - if instantly forgettable - tunes from Buddy Baker and the Sherman brothers, who went on to score The Jungle Book. Those ever-so-slightly annoying kids from Mary Poppins, Matthew Garber and Karen Dotrice, turn up again, this time protecting gnomes living in redwood forests from mindless lumber barons. Owing much to the Disney classic Darby O'Gill and the Little People, also directed by Robert Stevenson, this little-known live feature deserves better attention; kids will love it. Veteran Walter Brennan, famous for his grizzled Old West characters, is a standout in a dual role and there's a knockout car chase finale. This film was completed just after Disney's death in 1966.

An eccentric millionaire, along with his niece and nephew, finds two gnomes whose homes have been destroyed. They decide to help them find the rest of the tribe, but the family's friends think the tiny creatures are a figment of their imagination. Children's fantasy, starring Walter Brennan, Matthew Garber and Karen Dotrice.
