Our Score
It seemed invidious to remake the 1963 Disney true-life adventure classic The Incredible Journey, especially with talking animals. But while the original remains the superior picture, this is still a treat for children, thanks to the astonishing performances of its animal cast - Ben and Rattler (as the dogs Shadow and Chance), and Tiki (as the fussy pussy Sassy). The vocal talents of Michael J Fox, Sally Field and Don Ameche certainly help pep up the pets' personalities, although you expect more of a screenwriter like Caroline Thompson (The Addams Family, Black Beauty) than a series of playground-level wisecracks. Nevertheless, perfect family fare.
