Our Score
Some vigorous swordplay, handsome settings and lavish costumes fail to make up for the convoluted plot and general shortcomings of this second-rate action adventure tale, very loosely inspired by Alexandre Dumas's classic novel. George Montgomery is merely adequate as the loyal French officer who helps save Napoleon III from the treachery of his tyrannical chief minister, and this sort of Gallic swashbuckler has been done far better many times before and since, with the various versions of The Three Musketeers being prime examples.

A military captain is assigned to investigate a revolutionary movement in 19th-century France. A key member of the uprising is an aristocratic woman leading a double-life as a masked vigilante, and the officer is caught in a battle of wits with her for possession of a sword that is the key to finding a lost treasure. Swashbuckling adventure, starring Rita Corday and George Montgomery.
