Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Parents may have to field some awkward questions after this animated caper predicated on the notion that storks, who once delivered babies, now serve the online marketplace for consumer goodies. This leaves teenager Tulip (voiced by Katie Crown) a bit of a misfit; an undelivered baby who has grown up in the storks' warehouse. She needs to be offloaded and ace flyer Junior (Saturday Night Live alumnus Andy Samberg) is assigned the job with a promise of promotion. Then, in an awfully complicated set-up for a children's movie, Tulip pulls the lever that activates the old baby-making machine. Writer/director Nicholas Stoller (best known for bawdy comedies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall) never really gets a handle on the plot, relying instead on the growing familial bond between Tulip, Junior and their new "package". That said, the visuals are spectacular and Stoller has fun with running gags (a multitasking wolf-pack is a hoot). Overall it's bright and breezy enough to divert little ones - even if they don't know what's going on.
