Review

Our Score
The second adaptation from the hit video game stars Rupert Friend as 47, a genetically modified assassin who helps a young woman (Hannah Ware) take down terrorist organisation The Syndicate. Lacking in subtlety or humour, the film impatiently wades through the confusing plot, and the only real care is taken in the numerous action scenes (which even then feel emotionless and robotic). Friend reacts blankly to all the commotion, and makes for an impossibly bland hero, but that's about all you can expect from a role that requires him to shoot a lot of people in an acrobatic fashion. Zachary Quinto, on the other hand, chases our hero with a permanently angered expression, but his equally empty performance works against the story's "who can you trust?" theme. Better than its dreadful 2007 predecessor, but only just, Hitman: Agent 47 is a shallow cavalcade of action scenes that will probably leave you as cold as 47's expressionless gaze.

Summary

The latest in a long line of genetically engineered clones bred to be the perfect assassin takes on a mission that strikes close to home. A corporation intends to use the technology that created him to build an army of superhuman killers. As the assassin fights to bring them down, he uncovers the dark secrets surrounding his origin. Action thriller, starring Rupert Friend, Hannah Ware and Zachary Quinto.
