Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Tom Hanks returns as Harvard academic Dr Robert Langdon in this third outing for Dan Brown's literary hero. It opens with evil genius Bertrand Zobist (Ben Foster) taking his own life, leaving behind a deadly virus that's hidden in a public place. And so begins the standard treasure hunt that pinballs between various good-looking historic sites, with so many woozy, high-speed tracking shots as to give you motion sickness. While Hanks is always watchable, even he struggles to make Langdon interesting, while Felicity Jones is wasted in a supporting role as his sounding board. Director Ron Howard fails to inject any urgency into proceedings, producing a lumbering Frankenstein's monster of a movie that's dead on its feet.
