It’s not easy being an icon, as we find out in this concert movie meets tell-all documentary about the unforgettable Grace Jones. Following her professional life via the recording studio and a world tour, we also visit her Jamaican roots as we’re enveloped in Jones’s hectic world.
We see her as both an affectionate family member and a volatile diva (going full throttle at a bemused French TV director, for example). However, the most interesting moments are the rare glimpses of vulnerability. We hear about the tough upbringing and insecurities that created the formidable adult persona caught so vividly in concert footage.
