A group of friends who venture into the remote Texas woods for a party weekend find themselves stalked by Bigfoot.
Blair Witch Project co-director Eduardo Sanchez is back on familiar ground with this "found footage" terror tale, in which five friends decamp to a cabin in the woods, only to end up corralled and tormented by the legendary Bigfoot. Here, however, Sanchez proves to be a victim of his own success. After all, it was he and Daniel Myrick who spawned the craze for shaky-cam shivers back in 1998 but then left a subgenre ripe for imitation. So, though the film isn't awful and has some spooky, unnerving moments, there is a sense of having seen it all before. Also, Drew Goddard's genre-inverting Cabin in the Woods from 2010 did such a fabulous job of deconstructing the "kids in peril" yarn to such a crazy degree, it's going to take something really special or totally off the wall to impress.
