Our Score
This comedy has more edge than you might expect and stars Jack Black as Dan Landsman, an unpopular family man struggling to organise a high-school reunion. One night, Dan convinces himself that people will turn up if he can only secure the attendance of Oliver Lawless (James Marsden), a Hollywood actor who used to be the coolest guy at school. Contriving a bogus business trip to Los Angeles, he meets Oliver for a boozy, drug-fuelled night on the town, at which point the story takes a rather surprising narrative turn. Happily, there are several funny moments along the way, while Marsden is perfectly cast as the chiselled hunk who peaked before graduation. At times, the film is broader than it needs to be - Dan's boss (Jeffrey Tambor) doesn't know how to use Google - but there are enough other laughs to compensate. Just.

Summary

Dan Landsman prepares to attend a high-school reunion, and hopes to make a good impression on people who never had any time for him in his teens. To that end, he tracks down a famous classmate to persuade him to attend - but is unprepared for the consequences of letting the celebrity into his life. Comedy, starring Jack Black and James Marsden.
