The first Sinbad adventure saga from stop-motion genius Ray Harryhausen is still the best. Sokurah the Magician (Torin Thatcher) orders Sinbad (Kerwin Mathews) to find a magic lamp that is being guarded by an ingenious gallery of monsters - brought to fabulous life by Harryhausen's expertise and Bernard Herrmann's rousing score. A 30ft-tall Cyclops, a two-headed bird, a fire-breathing dragon and a skeleton warrior effortlessly combine with swashbuckling spectacle and thrilling escapism under Nathan Juran's sure-handed direction, and the result is a fantastic family favourite.
