Men in War

Men in War

Anthony Mann (1957)

A Certificate

Our Score
One of those minor war movies that were thick on the ground in the 1950s. But this account of a US infantry platoon in Korea is given distinction by Philip Yordan's intelligent script and Anthony Mann's in-your-face direction, while the music by Elmer Bernstein is also a bonus. Robert Ryan's battle-exhausted lieutenant is a character whose attitude says more about the futility of war than many a major epic.

Two antagonistic soldiers are forced to overcome their differences as they make their way across hostile territory to take a hill occupied by the enemy. Korean War drama, starring Robert Ryan, Aldo Ray, Robert Keith and Vic Morrow.
