Despite the quality cast, this is a depressingly ordinary action caper. John Cusack plays a cop turned teacher who heads into the wild to bond with his surly teenage son (Jamie Anderson). But the pair have the misfortune to stumble across a dying FBI agent, who was in the process of escorting master assassin Morgan Freeman into custody. Somewhat surprisingly, they resolve to finish the job - the problem being that the rest of Freeman's crew is now hot on their trail. Director Bruce Beresford's brisk and economical direction is a plus, while the two leads are their usual reliable selves. However, the fact that Freeman's character is such a sympathetic soul means there is little tension between guard and captor, while plot logic is in short supply.
