Review

Our Score
Crooner Tony Martin steps into the shoes of Charles Boyer in this thoroughly entertaining remake of Algiers, which was itself a reworking of the classic Pepe le Moko. This is enthrallingly romantic or excruciatingly corny, depending on your point of view, but there's no denying the pleasure afforded by Harold Arlen and Leo Robin's musical numbers. Peter Lorre gives arguably his best Hollywood performance, there's the sultry allure of Yvonne De Carlo, and watch very closely for the briefest glimpse of a young Eartha Kitt.
