Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Jennifer Lopez stars as a mother afraid for her life in this thriller that's taken straight from the stalker textbook. After a night of ill-judged passion with her much younger neighbour Noah (Ryan Guzman), newly divorced Claire (Lopez) becomes increasingly frightened of his erratic behaviour. As Noah's obsession starts to turn dangerous, the screenplay reveals itself to be a collection of trite plot points, though some entertainment can be had in watching Rob Cohen's direction pushing things even further from reality. Lopez does her level best with the cheesy dialogue and makes an engaging lead, if not an impressive one. Guzman fares less well, eliciting more laughs than gasps as he flips from dreamboat to cartoonish maniac at the drop of a hat. Capped off by an unpleasant finale, this over-the-top affair may be of some interest to those looking for late night schlock, but for most it will mark a low point in Lopez's career.
