It's filthy! It's disgusting! It's another film by the Pope of Trash, John Waters. After the Hollywood satire Cecil B Demented, the director of Hairspray and Pink Flamingos is back to subvert suburbia with another humorous bad-taste comedy. Tracey Ullman stars as Sylvia Stickles, a repressed convenience-store worker who resists the advances of husband Vaughn (Chris Isaak) and locks surgically enhanced daughter Caprice (Selma Blair) in her room to prevent her from working in a strip club (where she performs under the stage name of Ursula Udders). When Sylvia suffers a concussion in a car accident, she awakes with an uncontrollable lust and falls in with sex guru Ray-Ray Perkins (Johnny Knoxville). The neighbourhood soon becomes a haven for sex addicts. John Waters's desire to outrage is as strong as ever, but the encyclopedic range of fetishes on view becomes rather numbing after a while and can't compensate for the patchy script.

A bump on the head transforms a sexually repressed housewife into a sex-addicted exhibitionist - who, finding her husband can no longer fulfil her needs, goes in search of satisfaction in Baltimore's seedy underworld. John Waters' comedy, starring Tracey Ullman, Johnny Knoxville, Selma Blair and Chris Isaak.
