Review

Our Score
Any Christmas film set in Bethlehem, Kentucky, is guaranteed to drip with yuletide schmaltz, and you could imagine this kind of cosy melodrama being made back in Hollywood's heyday with Jane Powell. Here, singer Naomi Judd acquits herself admirably as a kindly music teacher whose department faces the axe in order to save her small-town school. Gerald McRaney strains a little too hard as the stiff-collared administrator whose reluctance to make the budget cuts is exacerbated by the fact that Judd helped his niece cope with bereavement. It's amiable, but short on charm.

Summary

An inspirational music teacher throws herself into preparing her students for a tuneful extravaganza. However, she remains blissfully unaware that the school is in financial difficulty and plan to close the music department. A dour administrator is sent to oversee the school's fate, only to face a crisis of conscience when he falls for the teacher. Romantic drama, starring Naomi Judd, Gerald McRaney and Alison Pill.
