As the newlyweds struggle to find a new home in the overheated property market of New York City, they look to friends and family to put them up, with George staying on the sofa of a gay cop couple and Ben sharing a house with a novelist (Marisa Tomei), her husband and their teenage son. The story does wander a bit, but Lithgow and Molina turn in nuanced and realistic performances as the chalk-and-cheese pair. Heartening, heart-warming and heartbreaking, Love Is Strange is a road trip through a durable, fascinating romance.
