Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

A family man and reluctant criminal (played by Fast & Furious regular Paul Walker) gets a second chance at life in Eagle Eye scribe John Patrick Glenn's intriguing if slow-paced directorial debut. Inexplicably finding himself the groundskeeper at a psychiatric hospital, Walker experiences increasingly strange events that leave him questioning his situation. Suspenseful scoring and gloomy visuals heighten the initially strong sense of mystery and unease, before a plainly bogus twist sends the hole-filled tale into the realms of total ridiculousness and a way-too-neat ending. Ultimately, it's a pretty undemanding project for a low-key Walker, who performs well despite often having little to do but look mournful and confused, and there's a decent, if underused, turn from Bob Gunton (The Shawshank Redemption) as the sinisterly benevolent institute boss.
