Pam Grier, Lance Henriksen and one-time Brady Bunch star Florence Henderson are among the well-known faces adding interest to this warm though implausible tale in which three mature women renovate a run-down house to raise funds for their local church. Plot holes abound as the project gradually takes shape, glossing over the realities of redevelopment in favour of an initially easy-going atmosphere and spirited "can-do" attitude. But with the neglected building also serving as a metaphor for the ladies' own problematic personal lives, sentimentality and seriousness quickly creep into the mix. Consequently, what begins as undemanding fluff soon hijacks the heartstrings, manipulating viewers right up to the film's predictable, feel-good finale.
