Clueless meets Dracula in this engagingly silly yet knowing horror comedy that really deserves cult status. Kristy Swanson is cheerfully dim-witted as LA teenager Buffy, who's surprised to discover that she is actually the only person who can save the city from suave Rutger Hauer and his fellow vampires. Director Fran Rubel Kuzui rightly plays it like a comic strip and draws perfectly judged performances from an eclectic cast that also includes teen heart-throb Luke Perry, Donald Sutherland, an unrecognisable Paul Reubens (Pee-wee Herman) and an uncredited appearance from Ben Affleck. It's a fun ride, but fans of the TV series that starred Sarah Michelle Gellar may find the action here a little disappointing.
Plot Summary
Comedy horror starring Kristy Swanson and Donald Sutherland. When a mysterious stranger informs teen cheerleader Buffy that she is descended from an ancient line of vampire killers, she is less than impressed. But evil is close at hand, and Buffy's special abilities are soon called upon.
