Jason James Richter returns in the third instalment of the eco-friendly killer-whale saga. This time, however, the drama centres on ten-year-old Vincent Berry, who's horrified to discover that his fisherman father (Patrick Kilpatrick) is an illegal whale hunter. Rather than simply set bad-guy father against nature-respecting son, director Sam Pillsbury taps into America's male hunter myth, making Kilpatrick's re-evaluation a real wrench from tradition rather than just a sentimental change of heart. The whales are clearly the big attraction, but this is also a subtly argued message movie.
Plot Summary
Wildlife adventure starring Jason James Richter. Teenager Jesse gets a summer job on a marine-biology research boat, and looks forward to a reunion with Willy the killer whale. But Jesse's hydrophonic signal to Willy is picked up by illegal poachers, threatening the lives of the whale and his pregnant mate.
