Review

Our Score
Michelle Pfeiffer plays the mother whose life is turned upside down after her toddler son goes missing, never, it seems, to be seen again. How she and her family (including older son Jonathan Jackson and husband Treat Williams) cope or, more to the point, don't cope is really the stuff of TV movies, and there's little here (thanks to pedestrian direction from Falling in Love's Ulu Grosbard and a stiff performance from Williams) to raise this above that status. Even the presence of Whoopi Goldberg as the cop in charge of the case adds little interest. The costume and make-up departments have done their best to make Pfeiffer look dowdy (sack dresses, mud-coloured hair), but no amount of dressing-down can hide the fact that this is an A-list star giving a classy performance in a merely average weepie.
