Paris Hilton, Jennifer Lopez and Mickey Rourke are among the A-listers to have paraded their pet chihuahuas in public and it was only a matter of time before the lapdogs got their cinematic day. But did it really have to be as tiresome as this Disney comedy? Drew Barrymore voices Chloe, a pampered LA pooch who's dognapped while away in Baja, California. As her human dog-sitter (Piper Perabo) combs Mexico for her, Chloe befriends a grumpy German shepherd (voiced by Andy Garcia) and discovers a lost tribe of Aztec lapdogs who refuse to submit to people's penchant for accessorising them. Director Raja Gosnell has form for this type of canine nonsense - he was responsible for both Scooby-Doo live-action movies - and he leaves no ethnic stereotype unturned and no doggy joke untold here, in an attempt to appeal to tots as tiny as his starring pooch. Adults may feel it redefines the term animal cruelty.
Plot Summary
