Our Score
In Brighton Rock director Rowan Joffe's second feature, Nicole Kidman plays the mentally unstable Christine Lucas, a vulnerable amnesiac who records her memories every day lest she lose further track of her disappeared former life. Hunky husband Ben (Colin Firth) fiercely protects her, unaware that Dr Nash (Mark Strong) has other ideas about her affliction. But something isn't adding up and Christine isn't sure who to trust: her manly spouse or the honest doctor. Based on the best-selling thriller by SJ Watson (the first success for the Faber Academy, the creative writing initiative set up by the British publishing house), this home-grown sensation is also a memorable example of fine British film-making. Joffe conjures superb performances from the perfect cast: this is Firth and Kidman at their best. A sexy, chilling and stylish trick of the light, this psychological thriller knows exactly what it's doing.

Summary

A woman who cannot retain her memories following a traumatic accident is contacted by a mysterious neuropsychologist, who offers to help her recover the truth about her condition. As she tries to piece together the events of her past, she begins to fear neither her husband nor the doctor are who they seem to be. Thriller, starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Mark Strong.
