My Favorite Martian

My Favorite Martian

Our Score
This special-effects farce is a pointless farrago that's nowhere near as fun as the 1960s show that inspired it, despite an in-joke appearance by original Martian Ray Walston. Here, unemployed TV-news producer Jeff Daniels hides crash-landed alien Christopher Lloyd in his car as the manic shape-shifter searches for spaceship spare parts. A highly talented cast - yes, even Elizabeth Hurley - drowns in a mass of bad quips, slapstick pratfalls and shameless mugging in a commercially crass and leaden make-over that's clearly tailored as a Men in Black for youngsters.

A TV journalist meets a stranded alien who is trying to repair his crashed spacecraft. After first planning to exploit the chance of a big story, he instead offers his help after befriending the visitor - but a fellow reporter plans to expose the truth. Sci-fi comedy based on the 1960s TV series, starring Christopher Lloyd, Jeff Daniels, Elizabeth Hurley and Daryl Hannah.
