In this homage to the spaghetti westerns of Sergio Leone, Evil Dead director Sam Raimi brings an overblown energy to every scene, as Sharon Stone rides, Clint Eastwood-style, into a town called Redemption to take part in a gunfighting competition presided over by evil Gene Hackman. The tale is as daft as they come, but the wacky proceedings gain interest thanks to the presence of Leonardo DiCaprio as the freshest-faced, prettiest gunslinger in town and a pre-stardom Russell Crowe as a laconic outlaw-turned-preacher.
Plot Summary
Western starring Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio. Attracted by a lucrative gunfighting contest, sharpshooters flock to the town of Redemption. Among them is a mysterious stranger, Ellen, who appears to be more motivated by a vengeful grudge against the contest's organiser, the evil John Herod, than by financial gain.
