Review

Our Score
This rowdy action drama, directed by Howard Hawks, was nominally scripted by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur, who wrote The Front Page as well as Hawks's earlier masterpiece Scarface. But Hawks rewrote the script and Hecht and MacArthur wanted their names taken off the credits. Miriam Hopkins plays a gold-digger who arrives in San Francisco intending to marry a rich man but when she discovers he's dead, she switches her affections to crime boss Edward G Robinson. Then Joel McCrea shows up and confuses the issue. Sharp performances make this an enjoyable romp, which was significant for making a star out of Walter Brennan.
