Disney updated its classic animated tale with this live-action version starring a deliciously over-the-top Glenn Close as infamous villain Cruella De Vil, the rich bitch who wants to turn loads of cuddly little dalmatian puppies into a fur coat. Jeff Daniels and Joely Richardson (as the couple trying to stop her) are slightly more subdued, but still turn in entertaining performances. The only complaint for older viewers (and those sentimental about the original) is that live dogs lack the variety of expression - and the vocals - of their animated counterparts. That said, children will love it.

Plot Summary

Disney's live-action adaptation of the classic tale, starring Glenn Close, Jeff Daniels and Joely Richardson. Love blossoms for dalmatian owners Roger and Anita when their pets meet in the park. But the fur-loving Cruella De Vil has her eye on their new litter of puppies.
